The Government of Rwanda was awarded during the opening of the ICAO regional safety management symposium Eastern and Southern African&Western and Central African region taking place in Kigali from 22-25 May,2018.

The Council President Certificate was handed by The ICAO Council President Mr Olumiyiwa Benard Aliu to Amb.Claver Gatete , the Minister of Infrastructure  for Rwanda’s progress in 2017 in resorving aviation safety oversight deficiencies and for its ongoing commitment to the effective commitment of ICAO Standards and Recommendation Practices.

This comes while the national carrier RwandAir is enjoying its renewed IOSA certification with the enhanced IOSA process under the IATA – IOSA registry valid from June 13th 2016 until June 13th 2018.

Aviation safety is at the core of ICAO’s fundamental Objectives. The organization is constantly striving, in close collaboration with the entire air transport community, to further improve aviation’s successful safety performance while maintaining a high level of capacity and efficiency.

Currently RwandAir serves 26 destinations with few more to join in the near future including Addis Abeba-Ethiopia,Guangzhou-China and Tel Aviv-Israel.
